Angelus by Antoni Taulé
In this suite, the Spanish artist Antoni Taule chose to paint directly on the walls his own interpretation of Jean-François Millet’s Angelus (School of Barbizon).

Upon entering the suite, the eye is immediately drawn to the mural above the bed. In the paintings, we can see the symmetrical and pure world of the artist, an architect by training, with vast empty spaces that open to the outside, where two farmers are working on a field. The contrast is striking: the past and the present, the austerity of the palace and the tranquillity of external nature.
Spacious and bright, this suite seems to open onto imaginary spaces where the viewer wants to escape.
